Daiquiri
Sleeping beauty! She would not wake up for her photo shoot...I will try again. She and her brother Martini are looking for a forever home. Very sweet kittens! If you have room for Daiquiri in your heart and home, or how about both? please contact us. Marigold
Marigold loves to be petted. She has been waiting for a home for 1 year and 7 months and counting. She loves to play and rub on your legs and demands attention. She doesn't really like to be picked up, but she will tolerate it for a little bit. Right now, she is in a foster home and has to stay in a room by herself. She would be great in a quiet home with someone who can give her the love that she craves. She is great with other cats. Please contact us if you are interested in adopting her. Calie
Calie was left outside and had four kittens. Some nice people took care of her and her family and now she is ready for a home of her own. She has been with us for quite a long time and would love a home for the holidays! If you have room for one more family member to love, please contact us. Zena
Poor Zena was left behind when her family moved away. How could they not take her with them? She has tons of personality, and loves to go for walks. She would love to get out of her cage and have some room to run and play! If you have room for Zena in your heart and home, please contact us. Cubby Bear
This little boy came to us with a broken leg that was never fixed. His leg had to be amputated because it was too late but he gets around just fine without it! He's a very happy little guy and loves everyone! If you have room for Cubby Bear in your heart and home, please contact us. Volunteers and Foster Homes for Pets Urgently Needed!Treasured Friends is a foster-based rescue group, which mean we do not have a physical building where we house animals. If you are reading this page, it is most likely because you are an animal lover! We have volunteer opportunities for everyone - if you have a only a few minutes, or can spare a few hours per week. Almost every Friday (excluding holiday weekends) at 4 PM we bring our van to PetSmart in Schererville to set up the cages for the adoption weekend. This takes about an hour when we have enough people to help. On Sundays at 4 PM, we take everything down. We need volunteers to help with setting up and taking down the cages, doing laundry, and cleaning the food bowls and litter boxes. We also need someone to stop by PetSmart on Sunday morning around 10 AM to clean the litter boxes and refresh the food and water for the cats that have spent the night at PetSmart. This takes 30-45 minutes, depending on how active the cats have been overnight. We have a theory that after the store closes, they party all night long! If you can't volunteer on the weekends, maybe you can provide a foster home for dogs and cats so they have somewhere to live while they are waiting to be adopted. This means that you fill out an application form, and then take home one (or more!) of our dogs and cats and take care of them just like you would take care of your other pets. This helps us to rescue more cats and dogs. If the animal hasn't been spayed or neutered yet, we may need you to take it to one of our vets for the surgery and then take care of it afterwards. Treasured Friends covers the cost of the medical needs, and the foster family usually donates the food and litter. This is a very rewarding service! If you are looking for a new pet, this is a good way to see how it interacts with your household. Please contact us at treasuredfriendsrescue@gmail.com, or call 219-381-8562 and leave a message. You may also stop by PetSmart on the weekends between Noon and 4 PM and talk to one of our volunteers. Donations Needed!Have you ever added up the cost of having a cat spayed or neutered, tested for heartworm, FIV and feline leukemia, and giving them distemper and rabies shots? Fortunately, we have veterinarians who provide these services to us at a reduced rate. Even so, it still costs us around $90 or more for each cat we rescue. If the cat has other issues, such as needing a limb amputated, or surgery from an injury, that can easily double or triple. We rely on donations for everything. We have no paid staff. NO ONE gets paid for helping the animals. We pay for insurance, gas, and repairs on the van, medical bills for the animals, and liability insurance. The care of the animals is about 95% of our expenses. At the present time, our adoption fee for cats is $60 for kittens and $40 for adults. Do the math - that is a lot less than our adoption fee! If you can find a few dollars to help us help the animals, please click on the PayPal button on the lower left side of the page. You do not need a PayPal account to make a donation, just a credit card. The animals thank you in advance! | |
