Dora Posted by tftoni on Tuesday July 13, 2010 9:27 pm

I am a Treasured Friends volunteer and every Saturday, I come to Petsmart to hold a dog's leash and talk to people about adopting. I am allergic to cats, so I don't interact with them very much.

I became aware of Dora because she was in the bottom, corner cage, most Saturdays. I would pass by with a dog on a leash. Once in awhile, she was forced to take notice of a dog. If it was a puppy and it lunged at the cage, she ignored it. If it was a dog, she would stand on her toes and hiss but she did not usually fluff up or give way. It seemed she knew she was safe in her space. There was one dog, she would hiss, spit, fluff up and even try to scratch! This dog was labeled as not liking cats and the feeling was apperently mutual. She was a great judge of character.

Finally, a maan came in and saw Dora. Lots of people have seen her but he looked at her in that special way. He had just lost his cat and came to Petsmart, specifically to get a cat. He passed all the adorable , active kittens and found Dora patiently waiting in the bottom, corner cage. He saw how self-assured she was and picked her to adopt. I am very glad he appreciated her sweet nature and adopted her.

Next week,I will return to Petsmart because I know there will be a new cat in the bottom, corner cage. There are always sweet, patient cats and kittens on our waiting list. The important point is Dora will not be waiting. I am happy it was her time to be adopted and my well wishes and a small prayer go with her. She had waited long enough in the corner, bottom cage for her Forever Home!
